FTC Florida News for Teams - September 3, 2013

Post by Admin on Fri Sep 06, 2013 8:58 pm

Hello Teams,

As always, please share this email with everyone on your team.

Original Attachments: List of Teams Registered with FIRST, Middleton High School Campus Map, Kickoff Lunch Menu (email Michael Coleman at if you need copies)

Topics in this email include:

1. Florida FTC Team Event Registration System is Operational
2. Teams Registered with FIRST
3. Season Kickoff Celebration, September 7th

1. Florida FTC Team Event Registration System is Operational
The Florida FTC event registration went live today. Florida FTC teams that have registered with FIRST received an email earlier today from that contains the team's password. The main and alternate contacts listed in the attached team list are the only team representatives that received the team's password.

Please give this password to the person(s) that are authorized to commit the team to attend events run by Leagues or the FTC Affiliate Partner. Keep the password in a safe location because this password is required to register for all officially sanctioned events this season (Kickoff, Practice Days, Meets, League Championships, etc.) and to submit videos for judging.

Use the links below to register for events, change your team's password, and search to see which teams have registered for events. If your team is attending the Kickoff Celebration on Saturday, September 7th, take a few minutes right now and register your team's attendance.

- Register for an event:

- Change the team's password:

- If you forget the password, request a new random password to be sent to the team's main and alternate contacts:

- Search for events and teams:

2. Teams Registered with FIRST

Please take a moment and review the Florida FTC team list that is attached to this email. Check your assigned league and let me know if your team was assigned to the wrong league. League assignments were based on the address for the team's main contact and this may not be in the team's home county.

The team list was built from information downloaded from the FIRST Team Information Management System (TIMS). These are the only teams that have fully completed the registration process for FIRST. The list contains teams that have paid or not-yet-paid their $275 registration fee to FIRST. If your team isn't included in the list and you believe that your team is registered, it is likely that your registration isn't complete, or you were caught by a technical bug in the registration system. Please take the following actions to move your team from the not-yet-registered list to the list of registered teams.

- Log into the FIRST Team Information Management System (TIMS) and verify that all of the required fields for the main contact person have been entered.

- Next, go the team management section and verify that all of the items have a "check" in the status column. All of the required sections must have a "check" before the team is added to the list of registered teams. Any "X's" will block a team's registration. In theory, a team with all "checks" is visible to me as registered, but not paid. This is where a technical bug catches some teams in the registration system. Even if you are not ready to pay the team's registration fee today, perform the next step in order to avoid getting caught by the technical glitch.

- Once all of the status indicators for the team are "checks," the link to pay the registration fee at the bottom of the team management page becomes active. Click through the payment pages up until the point that you are asked to enter credit card payment information. You can cancel out at this point if you aren't ready to pay the fee today. Simply getting to this step in the registration payment system clears the bug in the database that prevented the team from being listed as registered.

3. Season Kickoff Celebration, September 7th

Registration: Please use the link below and register your team for the Kickoff Celebration. Teams that register by September 6th will receive a scoring element for the new game as a thank you gift. A password is required to use the Florida FTC registration system. The team's password was emailed to the team's main and alternate contacts earlier today. See topic #1 above for additional details.

Florida FTC Event Registration Webpage:

Campus Map: The Middleton Magnet High School campus map is attached. It shows the parking options and the locations of the buildings used for Kickoff.

Pre-Pay for Lunch: Meal tickets can be purchased during team check-in. Teams that pre-pay for meals will bypass the concessions line and pick-up their meals from the speedy lunch pickup line.

Previously published information about the Kickoff Celebration is shown below for completeness:

Consent and Release Forms: Teams attending all official events are required to present evidence that the students and mentors attending the event have been approved by the online FIRST Consent and Release System. Print the team roster from the FIRST Team Information Management System (TIMS) where you registered your team and turn it in at the check-in table. Everyone on the roster that is noted as approved doesn't have to complete a paper Consent and Release form. Students, Mentors, and Coaches that are not shown as approved on the official team roster are required to turn in a completed paper copy of the Consent and Release Form. A copy of this form is an email attachment.

Address: Middleton Magnet High School, 4801 N. 22nd St., Tampa, FL 33610
