------------
1. What is League Play?
Learn about the significant changes to Florida's League Play system by reading the Team Guide to League Play and the Team Guide to Judging and Awards. It will be difficult for teams to have a successful season without a thorough understanding of these documents. Copies of the documents are attached to this email and they are available for download from the Florida FTC website: www.flfirst.org/Florida_First_Tech_Challenge/League_Play.html

------------
2. Kickoff Workshop Presentations
The six workshop presentations from the Florida FTC Season Kickoff Celebration can be downloaded from the Helpful Links section of the Florida FTC website: www.flfirst.org/Florida_First_Tech_Challenge/Helpful_Links.html

------------
3. Number of Teams Advancing from the Florida Championship to the South Super-Regional Championship
Eight teams will advance from the FTC Florida Championship to the South Super-Regional Championship. The following award winners at the Florida Championship will advance to the South-Super Regional Championship:

1. Inspire Award Winner
2. Winning Alliance Captain
3. Inspire Award 2nd Place
4. Winning Alliance, 1st team selected
5. Inspire Award 3rd Place
6. Winning Alliance, 2nd team selected
7. Think Award Winner
8. Finalist Alliance Captain

If a member of the Winning Alliance or the Finalist Alliance Captain also qualified to advance for winning one of the judged awards listed above, these slots will be awarded in the following order:

9. Connect Award Winner
10. Winning Alliance, 1st team selected
11. Rockwell Collins Innovate Award Winner
12. Finalist Alliance, 2nd team selected
13. PTC Design Award Winner

The entire advancement order list is in section 3.8 of the FTC Game Manual, Part 1.

Information about Super-Regional Championship tournaments is available on the FTC website: www.usfirst.org/roboticsprograms/ftc/super-regionals

------------
4. Team List and League Assignments
The FTC Florida team list is attached. The team names are based on information provided by teams that registered for the Kickoff Celebration. Team names will be added to my database as teams register to attend events. Don't worry that your team name is missing from the list.

------------
5. Rockwell Collins Grant Status Update
We received 27 applications for the 20 rookie team grants and 25 applications for the 20 veteran team grants. Because of the many tasks that I am working on to get the season underway, it will take until next week to process all of the grant applications. I apologize for the delay.

------------
6. Registering for Tournaments
Teams that registered with FIRST prior to the FTC Season Kickoff on September 7th have received their login credentials to register for FTC events held in Florida. Teams that registered after kickoff will receive their login credentials in the next week or two; before registration for Practice Days, Meets, and League Championships open. The login instructions will be emailed to the main and alternate contacts in the FIRST team database.

------------
7. ROBOCON (Repeat Announcement)
ROBOCON Tampa Bay will be held Oct. 26 & 27, 2013 at the University of Tampa. All the relevant information is at the website: www.robocontampabay.com - The event organizers are planning on holding workshops Saturday morning, and FTC scrimmages in the afternoon, with a tentative "Scrimmage in the Dark," as well. Cost for FTC teams is $25 to participate in workshops and scrimmages. The registration fee is waived for teams in the Hillsborough County League because their league paid an event fee. Registration is done through the ROBOCON website. A flyer for ROBOCON is attached. Visit www.ROBOCONTampaBay.com for more information.

That's all for now.

Take care,
