FTC Team Email Blast *7* 10-16-09

Post by Admin on Sat Oct 17, 2009 10:54 am

Hello Teams!

This is team email blast number 7 for the 2009 FTC Season. You should expect to receive weekly email blasts from us – this week is an exception to that general rule. The Team Email Blast is generally the way we communicate information about the program to you. That information could include competition specific news, software updates, trainings, or anything else we think you might like to know. This email is intended for FTC teams and is sent to the main contact listed in your team record.

1. FTC Mentor Orientation - 101 – RESCHEDULED Join Sr. Mentor Kathie Kentfield and Affiliate Partner Jill Wilker on October 20th at 7pm (eastern) to learn about being an FTC Team Mentor. If you’re new to the FTC program, or a veteran who wants to learn how to be a more effective mentor, this is the call for you. To participate, call in to 800 503 2899. The access code is 6663906. We have 150 phone lines available, and we will record the call and make it available on our web site.

2. Countdown to FTC Events – The competition season is fast approaching – How are you preparing? Now is a great time to learn more about the programming languages available to FTC teams: for your LabVIEW needs for your ROBOTC needs for tools to help you get started

3. From Ken’s Blog - FTC Championships - Extended

Many of you responded to a poll posted on this blog recently regarding extending the FTC World Championships into Saturday - thanks.

As most of you know FTC has traditionally ended late Friday - leaving Saturday exclusively for FRC events and the closing ceremonies.

We've decided to extend the FTC Championship into Saturday for a few reasons. It will give teams more plays, allow a bit more freedom for FTC'ers to interact with others, and put FTC on a "bigger stage" by extending it into Saturday.

The plan is to hold the semifinal and final FTC rounds Saturday morning and FTC closing ceremonies mid-day.

FTC continues to grow and we're excited to be including Saturday as part of the World Championship experience.

Go Teams!
